It's almost here! I can smell if coming... campfires, warm breezes and bug spray. Summer... ah the sweet time of year where we forget we were buried under 4 feet of snow. The time where we can enjoy hammock swings and kayaks. I spent the afternoon downtown Montreal yesterday and was blown away by the atmosphere. People were outside enjoying the weather and to be honest - I'm not sure there wasn't anyone inside working. Men were having meetings in the plazas and parks, hotels were buzzing with activity and shuttle buses cluttered up the already busy downtown streets. I could definitely get used to the atmosphere of open patios and low flying dirty pigeons hoping to score a bit of your food. Okay, maybe the second part isn't that great but the open air dining makes up for it.
I feel like I've had my head in the sand for quite some time now - I pulled it out just in time to realize that AC Milan (an amazing soccer club from Italy) is coming to play the Montreal Impact (a slightly less impressive team) on June 2nd. We totally bought tickets! I'm looking forward to seeing really good soccer from everyone.
August 30th I start my "first" day of classes... it won't be that crazy because it's only half a day and my next class is on September 13th and then I have my first day of explanation. I met with the registrar yesterday and she worked it out so I can take two classes in French and the rest in English so I could get a handle on some of the tourism language. I'm pretty excited but now it seems way more real than before...
While I was kayaking around the lake, I realized that I'm sad to be leaving here - which I consider home at the moment. Sorry mom. It's been huge for me in my growth in the Lord and just the feeling a huge family. As I swatted at the bugs and waved at the Thiessens cooking over their fire, I wondered what the next step in my life would really look like. I'm curious and excited to find out!
