2998...
For the past month and a bit at staff meetings we've been going meticulously through Hebrews 11... we're almost done. I congratulate ourselves on actually making it through a whole chapter! Reasons why i'm happy: Ezekiel came to an abrupt halt at chapter 10- I think... and the women's Bible study almost made it to the end and fizzled out with just one week left... procrastination most always gets the best of us. It's part of our charm- really! I digress.
Reading through verses 32-40 about a week ago in my personal devotions really struck me! I mean it names Gideon, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and Barak (who is this guy? I admit, I just learned two days ago), people we all know about and use for stellar examples of 'the faith'. The passage continues on just saying how they put one foot in front of the other and trusted the Lord through those times and the great victories He gave them! It made me think... do I trust the Lord to shut the mouths of lions and quench the violence of fire?

Back to Basics
In my opinion, I tend to live a pretty lucrative life. I live in a house, sleep in one of the most comfortable beds, work at a place I enjoy with an amazing boss, have a pretty sweet roommate who lends me her car, don’t cook my own meals and have satellite tv. I’d say it doesn’t quite get better than this. Sure, I can find things to complain about- but I’ve been praying about those things and have come to the conclusion that they’re really not worth the time to whine about.
Once I resigned myself to just truly enjoying what I had, the Lord blessed me! Someone offered to buy me a car. Like, a nice car! I’m still in shock, I’ll be honest. There’s nothing in me that thinks I deserve a car, however this person thought I did. So, once again everyone, as of Wednesday-ish I will be mobile!! It’s a pretty little 2006 Pontiac Wave with air conditioning. Oh yes… no more days of opening the two windows in the car and dying of heat while waiting at red lights. Summers in
So in light of the nouveau auto, I’ve been thinking about my family and friends as well. I’m so blessed to have so many outstanding and amazing people in my life. Friends that are always there for you, no matter what happens- brave people who choose to allow you into their lives so that you could be a part of it.
I wouldn’t trade any of them for the world!!
