I started this blog almost 2 years ago in November while I was in Uruguay. I added this super cheesy hit-counter to see if anyone was actually reading what I was writing. Today, at hit number 2998 I decided to end my chessiness and remove the hit counter I stole from the 1990's.
For the past month and a bit at staff meetings we've been going meticulously through Hebrews 11... we're almost done. I congratulate ourselves on actually making it through a whole chapter! Reasons why i'm happy: Ezekiel came to an abrupt halt at chapter 10- I think... and the women's Bible study almost made it to the end and fizzled out with just one week left... procrastination most always gets the best of us. It's part of our charm- really! I digress.
Reading through verses 32-40 about a week ago in my personal devotions really struck me! I mean it names Gideon, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and Barak (who is this guy? I admit, I just learned two days ago), people we all know about and use for stellar examples of 'the faith'. The passage continues on just saying how they put one foot in front of the other and trusted the Lord through those times and the great victories He gave them! It made me think... do I trust the Lord to shut the mouths of lions and quench the violence of fire?
