I'm not sure exactly how this happened, but I ended up re-reading all my blog posts from the past year at 1:00am which is, for the record, not a good idea.
I'll admit that I didn't keep a diary/journal while I was in Uruguay and I'm really thankful I made this blog, because little lessons I learned that I shared with you, will never be completely lost.
Tomorrow I have my debriefing with SIM, which is where I talk with missions representative about my time in Uruguay. It's forced me to prepare mentally and think back on my time over the last year on the other side of the world. I began remembering the times that made me smile, that challenged me and that hurt (literally, I stepped on a cactus once); I began remembering all the blessings I had too.
I also remembered the lessons I learned, about the simple things, like smiling, laughing and just showing Christ's love. I guess the real question is, how can I take those lessons and apply them to my life today?
This post: the result of being awake until 1:23 am.

without all the frills
There are things you can easily live without (as I learned from not having them for a year), hockey, whip cream, Tim Horton's french vanilla cappuchino, and thousands of other things that you don't really need until you realize you don't have it. Today was one of those days...
I'm not a huge cookie person... I'm content with your basic chocolate chip amazing-ness. But today, as I was browsing through the specials I got a little too excited to find that maple leaf cookies were on sale. If you know what I'm talking about, suddenly you just got the craving for the creamy mapley goodness.
I know I did and... I now possess a bag.
