By 11:00 this morning I saw two men doing their business along overpass walls, one police chase and at least 8 cops in the metros fully decked out in bullet-proof vests with the clubs. Oddly enough, all this fueled my love for the city. I grew up in the country and have desired to live in an apartment building my whole life; I used to turn my house into a high-rise downtown every chance I got.
Driving by Montréal last night I was looking at the horizon of lights that beaconed from the downtown core and I was mesmerized by it. What is it I love about the city? I think it's the diversity, the life, the plethora of cultures (I get 4 points for using 'plethora') and the uncertainty of what's around the corner.
Tonight there was a huge snowstorm and it seemed that although there were ambulances flying by, there was a sort of calm in the streets. There were couples walking along Cresent Street window shopping, kids playing out in the sidewalk slush and teenagers whipping snowballs at eachother from behind restaurant signs.
As Jason Mraz was blaring from the speakers, I had a smile plastered on my face as I cruised by the Hard Rock Cafe, Starbucks and past the Bell Centre...
